Trust the Thais to come up with the weirdest descriptions for products. I stumbled upon this box of tomato juice in the office. What I first thought was a nondescript box of tomato juice (which I honestly don’t know how to drink) surprised me when I read the variant descriptor. Nako, madugo-dugong usapan ito!

After a frenetic two days in Laoag, the Christmas Party madness kicked off with the merger party of Underline/MaxMarketing! Yup, the 3rd place winners of the JimenezBasic Christmas Dancefest gathered together to celebrate the year that was as well as the successful competition merger that produced one of the best bellydancing demonstrations this side of the Pacific.
The theme was Hawaiian Luao and trust the events queens Tini and Alelee to put their best in coming up with an event that everyone will enjoy. Kinareer talaga lahat, from the alcoholic beverage that knocked me out at the beginning of the night to the colorful and festive leis that were given out.
The night was spent looking at slideshows and reliving the glory days of our performances in Bangkok! It was a great way to kick off my Christmas Party marathon!
Get set go!

After an exhilarating SE weekend, I immediately flew to Laoag for some more Chowking shooting. The last time I was in Laoag was in 1994 when I stopped by the airport on the way to Batanes and I must say… the airport looks exactly like it did in 1994 with the exception of it being airconditioned!
Our hotel was Fort Ilocandia which for me was a very pleasant surprise! It was a fantastic luxury hotel and I relaxed to the hilt in the place. You really felt like a king amidst the bloody red bricks. What a pity I was only spending one night here. This hotel has fantastic videoke rooms, a mini zoo, its own beach, a swimming pool, gym, a casino and fantastically lewd statues everywhere. Plus sa dami ng Chinese and Koreans I really felt like I was in a foreign country. Ang saya!
Unfortunately the fun was short lived as we had barely a day to shoot a Chowking testimonial AVP. So it was off to shoot.
By the next day, we left for Manila. So long Laoag! Hope to see you again! Especially Fort Ilocandia!

Last weekend, I trooped up to Tagaytay again for our semi-annual SE weekend. It’s now SE12 and it’s been over 4 SE’s since I joined the community. My how fast time flies. This weekend was also special because it was the weekend that was sponsored by my sister’s class.
In any case, we went up Tagaytay on a crisp and nippy December weekend. The climate was perfect because the cold combined with the quaint feel of Angel’s Hills made me feel like I was in a distant village in the south of France. Wow sosyal di ba? However, the constant raining made me feel like I was in monsoon country. But hey we shouldn’t complain, di ba?
Serving in an SE weekend is such an exhausting proposition which begs the question, why do we do it at all? Well the answer is joy and fulfillment. Serving others has a unique kick that is simply inexplicable. Even if you’re rushing around in the pouring rain. Pant legs soaking wet with water and freezing due to the cold, you’re still smiling because you see the faces of the candidates enjoying the experience that you worked so hard to give them. Truly, God was shining on that weekend even though the sun was not.
Of course, the best part of any weekend is the chance for all my SE friends to gather together and have fun. To share experiences that we will recount, again and again over the years to come.
Truly, this was once again a weekend to remember!
Welcome to the Family SE12!

Obviously our group can because we won third place in our JimBasic Christmas dancefest! I was so proud of our department because they really gave it their all. Everything was beautiful, from the costumes to the dance movements to the music to the final tableau! Marvelous. The best part about it was that everyone had fun doing it. And it showed in the peoples faces. Congrats to MaxMarketing/Underline for a Patpong worthy belly dancing extravaganza!

When you do little things well, great things happen. This was what I noticed at the Grand Palace in Bangkok. It’s amazing how much detail went into constructing these buildings. The mosaic work, tiling and guilding were exquisite. I could just spend hours looking at the patterns of these beautiful things. But what made the experience doubly fun was that I was able to share it with my dearest friends. After all, that’s what makes this trip really fun!

Five minutes of fame in Bangkok. In the midst of our bar hopping I noticed this extremely tall person who looked vaguely familiar… then it dawned on me… IT WAS SANTINO RICE!!! Second season finalist of one of my favorite shows, PROJECT RUNWAY! Well, carpe diem is my favorite expression Ernest and I decided to stalk him to get our pictures taken. Surprisingly he was friendly, far from the jerk that he was in the show. He graciously posed with us while engaging us in small talk.
Shit, sana in my next trip I see Nick Verreos!
